This project began with an examination of a uniquely Seattle sub-culture: Bike Polo. I began my research by creating a visual board of the entities, influences, and flows within the Bike Polo culture and sport. Next, I developed a social map with the goal of visualizing the multiple connections between this specific group of cultural cornerstones. The purpose of the social map is to find and dissect possible keystone elements within the ecosystem of the Bike Polo subculture. Along with a partner I developed ideation boards using the cultural and social maps to help guide our design. In the end we developed this short film to visualize the next evolution of the Bike Polo game. The concept explores an alteration of physical entities within the game that would influence both player strategy and game dynamics. Central to the focus of the project was a desire to find and influence emergent behaviors within the Bike Polo sub-culture. Below are the various posters I designed to visualize out ideation and concept development.
